A question people often ask of me is what should they get to get started in production.
Well if you would have asked me this 4-5 years ago I would say you would need several thousand dollars to get some outboard gear such as Keyboards, Mixer, and so forth.
Now a days things are different. Software has evolved into something amazing. Many established remixers/producers are getting by with Cubase, Ableton Live, Pro Tools LE and some plug ins for sound generators and efx.
Add an up to date PC or Mac and a pro quality sound card.(you can pick up one for $200-$400) and you will be set to produce some cool tracks.
From here you can decide if this is for you or not without selling your car, getting 3 jobs, taking out a huge loan, or refinancing your house to do this Cool
